Planning Ahead
Thursday 13th May, 7.30-9.00pm - Led by Stephanie Hutchinson They used to say that death and taxes were the only certain things in life. These days, there are some who do manage to evade taxes but so far, death remains a certainty, Yet it's not something that people seem able to contemplate or discuss with equanimity, be that from a practical or a philosophical one. In fact in Scotland only about a third of people have written a will and nearly 80% have no written plans for their end of life care, financial wishes or funeral wishes. This can cause unnecessary confusion and complications when someone dies. |
This workshop will offer an overview of the various aspects involved in planning ahead, from wills, power of attorney, advanced care directives, (living wills) funeral planning and provide resources for further research. We will also take some time to explore what the idea of a 'good death' means to you and how you might plan ahead for that.
