"Harry provides excellent coaching in this convivial setting. It benefits both physical and mental health with warm ups, singing excercises, breathing techniques and improved posture. The friendly atmosphere and jocular banter make it a fun evening. I would definately recommend joining."

VoiceMale Wednesdays at 7.30-9.30pm £6 drop-in Concessions available, please pop in to see us or email [email protected] An informal men’s harmony singing session. Men of all and any levels of singing experience are welcome to turn up and sing. We learn by ear, you don’t need to read music. It’s just us, there’s no audience, it’s for fun. There’s a wealth of different styles and traditions out there to explore, from sea-shanties to cowboy songs to African choruses to Georgian toasts. If you were put off singing at school, or told you couldn’t sing, this might be just what you need. Come and join us and prove there’s more to it than male voice choirs and barbershop quartets. |
Led by Harry Campbell of Muldoon's Picnic. "Having come to Glasgow many years ago to work in language publishing, with a lifelong love of singing, I eventually ended up leading community choirs as my main activity. Partly because of my background in linguistics, I'm especially interested in traditional unaccompanied song from around the world in different languages. Mixed choirs always find it hard to recruit men. So when in 2014 Finn's Place decided to experiment with a men-only singing group, and asked me to lead it, it was a golden opportunity to sing songs that are traditionally sung by men -- sea-shanties, work-songs, union songs, church songs, drinking-songs, soldiers' songs, etc. There are very few groups like this in Scotland or even the UK. The social side is wonderful too, it's heartwarming to see the comradeship, bonding and good humour in a group where the most important thing is just being willing to give it a go -- you're among friends here. Leading Voicemale is a pleasure and a privilege for me, and I'm delighted to see it go from strength to strength with the support of Finn's Place." You can hear the group singing on the Voicemale website. You can contact [email protected] for more information. |
"A beautiful relaxed session where everyone is welcome regardless of ability. I always feel lighter and happier after this."
