Langside Community Heritage

LCH is a local group which explores the archaeology, history and heritage of the Langside area.
LCH and Finn's Place have worked together on several projects.

Our War is Over
A booklet to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1.  Starting with the names recorded on the war memorial in the old Battlefield West Church (now Langside Church) we reasearched the stories of those who had served and died, those who were consciencious objectors, women who worked during the war, the suffragette movement in the area, and explored what life was like in this area during the war.

A Different Kind of War, A Different Kind of Peace
A booklet which tells the stories of the names on the War Memorials of Battlefield Parish Church and Newlands South Church from WW2. It also includes some social history and changes which were taking place in the area in the 1940s.

We have also completed two walks around the area with Untold Stories from WW2, again with the names on the war memorial in Battlefield West Church and also from Newlands South Church.
You can access the walks at these links: Langside Walk and Newlands Walk or download the Guidigo App to your phone and search for Langside and Newlands.

We also have copies of the Langside Heritage Trail and the Battle of Langside - both researched and published locally.
