Our War Is Over |
16 NovemberOur War is Over. - a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 with a focus on Langside Ward.
As the nation commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, we would like to welcome you to join us for an evening of community reflections about the experiences of Langside residents during and after the Great War. We have been researching the individual stories of a small number of people who lived in our neighbourhood and walked our streets during these years of horrific industrial scale warfare overseas and tremendous social change at home. |
With a mixture of presentations, music and poetry our event will share some of the Langside wartime experiences we have uncovered including:
- Who were the people behind the names on our war memorial?
- The role and experiences of nurses
- The war effort at home and local industry
- Social change and suffrage in the southside
- Conflict and conscientioius objectors
