Pilgrimage to Inchcailloch on
Loch Lomond Saturday 24th September Tradition has it that around 1,300 years ago Saint Kentigerna, daughter of an Irish King and mother of Saint Fillan, settled here. We will walk from Drymen to Balmaha and then we will get the boat over to explore this little island on Loch Lomond while reflecting on the past, the present and the future. |
Meeting at Queen St station at 8.20am, we will take the train to Balloch, the bus to Drymen and then walk along the West Highland Way (avoiding the climb of Conic Hill) to Balmaha where we will get the ferry over to the island. We will visit the settlement of Saint Kentigerna and have lunch on the island.
Approximate Costs: Return train to Balloch - £8.30, Bus to Drymen - £2.80, Ferry to island - £5, Bus to Balloch - £2.80
Some of the path is rough and may be muddy - please wear appropriate footwear. Bring your own flask, water, snacks and lunch. And we are in Scotland, so wear appropriate clothing - ready for anything!
