A Wee Gathering on Wellbeing
On Friday 7th March 2014 we held an event to connect with other people, individuals and agencies, who are working on the Southside of Glasgow to promote and enhance the wellbeing of those who live and work here. The day was themed around the nef 5 ways to wellbeing: connect, take notice, be active, keep learning and give.
We had two great speakers: Dr Carol Craig: Centre for Confidence and Well-being, who engaged with us on the difficulties that make 'Well-being - a realistic goal?' and Dr Bob Leckridge: NHS Centre for Integrative Care, who took us on a tour around the universe while educating us on 'Health-making through integrative practice'
We also spent some time mapping out agencies and services around the Southside so we could get a picture of who is doing what. Have a look at our map on the web - Community Wellbeing
We kept our own wellbeing in mind with a session of singing, walking and capacitar.

Those who attended had this to say:
Something to take away - Finding out about so many agencies on the Southside to help with the promotion of wellbeing; made new connections. Something I loved - The pace and content of the day - walk, capacitar, balanced with listening and thinking; it was an excellent event and so necessary. Somthing I learned - Wellbeing is so crucial to our happiness; the importance of slow, and was reminded that humans are social animals. A big thank you to all who attended and helped out. |
